Most of the students focus on studying and passing the exams and do not pay a lot of attention to their lifestyle and their health. It is important for a student to eat healthy and raw food and avoid sugar, fatty acids, carbonated drinks, and alcohol. The consumption of fast food and sugary snacks can decrease your ability to memorize things and you will put on some weight. Most of the students also get a lot of calories from tea, coffee, soda, energy drinks and so on and they are not aware of that. They study all night and do not get much sleep which influences negatively on their health. Students avoid going grocery shopping and planning their meals, so their choice for lunch or dinner are usually some fast food options such as hamburgers, pizza, fried food, or processed foods. Most of the students complain a lot that they do not have time enough for maintaining a healthy lifestyle because of the lectures, homework, exams and social life. This is not true. There is a time for everything; you just need to learn how to manage your time wisely. Here are some tips how to be a good student and at the same time to have a healthy lifestyle. These tips will help you stay fit, maintain a good health and have good marks in your exams.
Tip number one – Plan your meals in advance and make sure you consume the right ingredients! It is a good idea to plan your meals in advance, because in all the studying and going to lectures, you might not have enough time for preparing your food. Make a list of options for breakfast, lunch and dinner and also include 2 snacks. Five small meals a day all you need. Make sure you avoid sugar and sugary snacks as well as chips and soda and some other sugary drinks. When you make your list, make sure you have included some protein, vitamins, minerals and fiber. Prepare your meals the night before and store them in a fridge. The next day, you just need to pick up your meal and enjoy its taste. The healthy and balanced diet will improve your memory and you will not feel tired all the time.
Tip number two – Water is the only liquid you really need! All your body needs is some water in order to stay hydrated. Hydration is really important for proper body function. Take a bottle of water with you wherever you go. Most of the students replace water with coffee or soda. This is really wrong. When you are thirsty, you only need some water. Soda and coffee make you thirstier. Avoid alcohol consumption. Alcohol does nothing but damage to your body.
Tip number three – Eat on a schedule – Do not start your day without breakfast! Breakfast is really important because it provides you with the energy for your day, so that you can complete all of your tasks during the day. Make sure your breakfast is full with proteins, fiber, vitamins and minerals. Despite breakfast, you should have lunch and dinner and 2 small snacks between the main meals. Stick to an eating schedule and try to eat every day at the same time. This way you will boost your metabolism and you will have more energy. Do not forget to consume fresh fruit and raw vegetables during your day!
Tip number four – A quality sleep is mandatory! Most of the students study during the nights, stay up all night watching a film, or just want to party all night long. The nights are meant for a good rest and a good sleep. Sleep deprivation can lead to anxiety, depression, memory loss or inability to memorize and also leads to weight gain.
Tip number five – Exercise at least two times a week. There is no better cure for everyday anxieties such as taking a walk or exercising for 20 to 30 minutes. Try to stay active and maintain a healthy weight. A moderate exercise of 20 to 30 minutes two or three times a week will be enough. Exercising will clear up your mind; it will make you happy and will let you go of all the negativity and stress.
It is not an easy thing to be a student, but you need to make a plan and a schedule and find the right balance between your studies and your health. Our health is really important, so make sure you keep a healthy lifestyle during your studies.
