Energy drinks are usually the victims of very polarized opinions among consumers, with most people either loving or hating them.
While some of the accusations thrown at energy drinks in general have a bit of truth in them, some of the criticism is unfair.
Energy drinks have come a long way over the last few years, with greater emphasis being placed on producing an energy drink that does not have detrimental effects on the health of consumers.
One such energy drink that we absolutely love is Ghost Energy. After bursting onto the scene with a host of great flavors powered by two very impressive collaborations with Sour Patch Kids and Warheads, it has taken the industry by storm.
In this Ghost Energy drink review, we will look at each of its great-tasting flavors and give our verdict on this latest offering from the Ghost supplement company. However, let us first discuss a bit more about energy drinks in general. If you want to know what other customers have to say about it, click here.
Energy Drinks: The Good and the Bad
In general, an energy drink is a soft drink that is packed with a high amount of caffeine, sugar, and a variety of other stimulants.
It is usually consumed to provide a quick boost in energy. As a result, energy drinks are routinely taken by highly active sports people, workout enthusiasts, or by regular individuals as a way to combat tiredness.
However, all these energy benefits come at a cost. Here are some of the good and bad things about energy drinks that you need to know:
Pros
- Has stimulants that improve mood, attitude, cognitive function, and mental clarity
- Great energy boost for sports
- Perfect for a pre-workout drink
- They are delicious
- Helps you stay awake when studying or driving
- There are low-calorie options with zero sugars
Cons
- They can be addictive
- Have been linked to health problems, such as cardiovascular disease
- Some of the artificial ingredients may cause weight gain
- Consumers often suffer sugar crush after the energy boost fades away

Its zero-sugar rating means that it can be taken without any concerns over how much the levels of blood will spike or the terrible sugar crash that is common with most energy drinks.
To compensate for this lack of sugar, Ghost Energy is infused with sacralose; which is our favorite artificial sweetener. The drink has no artificial colors, and its flavors are a clear to slightly tinted color.
We Tried Seven Great Flavors
We had the absolute pleasure of trying out all of Ghost Energy drink’s seven flavors and we were quite impressed with what we discovered.
Being fans of energy drinks in general, we were pleased to note that Ghost had managed to bring something unique to an already highly saturated industry. The Warheads and Sour Patch Kids flavors were absolutely delicious. Here is a look at each of the flavors from Ghost Energy drink that you can look forward to:
Orange Cream
First, our list is one of the original flavors in this Ghost Energy drink review. Orange Cream gives a strong citrus candy-like taste that you would expect from the name on the can. With 80% orange and 20% cream, it will definitely leave a bit of a tingle on your tongue.
Some people may find the lingering citrus bite a bit too much, especially if they are used in more gentle combinations (65% citrus to 35% cream). However, if you are going to go for an orange flavor, this is the one for you. The burst of flavor from Orange Cream is one of the best you will ever come across concerning orange-flavored energy drinks.
Tropical Mango
If you love the taste of a juicy mango, then Tropical Mango is sure to hit the spot. Like its Orange Cream counterpart, Tropical Mango is all about keeping things original. Some may find the juicy mango flavor to be a bit mellow but to us, that’s a good thing because too much mango flavor can be quite overwhelming.
While it wasn’t a hit among some of our team members, the overall consensus is that Ghost Energy did a pretty decent job with this particular flavor. Tropical Mango is definitely worth a try if you find the juicy mango taste to be appealing.

Citrus
The citrus family is quite large, which is why we feel that this flavor could have used a more direct name to give consumers a better idea of what sort of flavor they should expect. However, at the very first sip you will have no doubts as to what you taste; lemon pez and lime.
Like the other original flavors we tasted, you should not expect anything new with Citrus. Ghost Energy sets out to produce a simple and familiar tasting drink with very few surprises and it does that very well. The “wow” factor has rightly been reserved for the next four flavors on our list.
Sour Patch Kids Blue Raspberry
If you are looking for a new flavor, then Sour Patch Kids Blue Raspberry is definitely it. We think this partnership with Sour Patch was an absolute master-stroke by Ghost Energy Lifestyle. It’s what sets it apart from all its competitors and this flavor is one of the reasons why.
This flavor stays true to its sweet and sour roots that made the Sour Patch Kids candy brand so famous. Mix this with the bubbly effervescence of Ghost Energy and the results are spectacular.
The unpleasant aftertaste and aromas that are usually common with such attempts at collaboration are thankfully absent here. Sour Patch Kids Blue Raspberry is as clean and delicious as you could ever wish.
Warheads Sour Watermelon
Warheads Sour Watermelon is the second of Ghost Energy’s inspired partnerships and it really takes the shackles off when it comes to the flavor. If you are looking for a strong sour taste, this is it. Any stronger and this drink is likely to leave you with a cotton-mouth feeling. The hint of sweetness is what brings a bit of balance to the drink but in no way diminishes the sour taste.
Needless to say, with such a strong taste, Warheads Sour Watermelon is not the type of drink you would want to drink daily. However, you will probably find yourself craving that sourness every once in a while. With such a unique taste, Warheads Sour Watermelon is a definite winner in our book.
Sour Patch Kids Redberry
Rounding off the list of Sour Patch Kids collaborations is another great energy drink from Ghost Energy. Sour Patch Kids Redberry has the same balanced blend of citrus candy and carbonation that is found in the Blue Raspberry version.
The flavor itself is difficult to distinguish between strawberry and cherry, but that will not matter once the Sour Patch Redberry hits your taste buds. If ever there was a risk of drinking too much in one sitting, it was with this particular flavor. That’s how much we loved it!
In our view, this particular flavor is what the new Ghost Energy drink brand is all about; a bold, exciting, and delicious taste to delight the senses.
Swedish Fish Flavor
After the success of its marquee drinks, the Ghost Energy Supplement company decided to follow up with a new flavor in the form of Ghost Energy Swedish Fish. There was a lot of hype surrounding the announcement of the Swedish Fish flavor, especially from fans of the other previous Ghost Energy drinks. However, the result was a bit underwhelming.
While Ghost Energy Swedish Fish is, by all means, a great energy drink, there is very little to distinguish it from the similar (and better) tasting Sour Patch Kids Redberry flavor.
Swedish Fish was already a much-loved flavor in its own right, which was the reason for the initial boost in sales. However, when compared with the other flavors from Ghost Energy, it pales in comparison.
Strawbango Margarita
This drink stands out from the rest of the drinks in the category because it collaborated with the famous athlete Maxx Chewning. That is why it has emerged as a popular pre-workout drink.
The Strawbango Margarita has an awesome infusion of berries and carbonation that, like the Swedish Fish, was already quite popular before this Ghost Energy drink hit the market. Whether or not it has any actual benefits for gym enthusiasts is beside the point, because the Strawbango Margarita tastes great!
Our Verdict
After being lost in these delicious energy drinks for what seems like a lifetime, it is definitely safe to say that Ghost Energy Drink hit a definite homerun with this range. However, let us look at the different parameters by which an energy drink is judged:
Taste
Anyone who has tasted the Sour Patch Kids Redberry will tell you that it is one of the best-tasting drinks you will ever come across. That’s not to say that the other drinks in this category are not great, we just felt that the Redberry was the pick of the bunch.
In terms of taste, Ghost Energy nailed it. Whether you want something extra sour, or you prefer your energy drinks to be a bit mellower, there is something for you in their range.
Key Ingredients
Ghost Energy did not go all out to create a whole new roster of ingredients. Instead, they simply perfected an already tried and tested formula. By adding the perfect amount of each ingredient they came up with a unique product that is health conscious while at the same time delivering great taste.
Price and Availability
Priced at $30 per case of 12 cans, Ghost Energy drink is very much in line with similar brands and in most cases actually cheaper. This is great for a relative newbie on the market trying to build a customer base.
Energy Boost
The natural caffeine found in Ghost Energy drinks is certainly more than capable of delivering a strong kick when you certainly need it. This is part of the reason why one of its flavors, Strawbango Margarita, is steadily gaining popularity as a great pre-workout drink.
One good thing about the energy boost you get from Ghost Energy drinks is that you do not have to worry about crashing later on. With no zero sugar in its drinks, Ghost Energy promises nothing but a gradual descent after pumping the adrenalin.
Final Word
The final verdict on this range of drinks from Ghost Lifestyle is that this is a great drink that not only manages to tick all the right boxes regarding what an energy drink is all about, but also has awesome flavors.
If you want to try out something a bit different, then one of the delicious flavors we discussed in this Ghost Energy drink review is certainly worth a shot. From sweet and sour to traditional flavors, you won’t be able to resist trying them all!
