    Equipment and Players

    The equipment used for pickleball is pretty simple. All you need is a court, paddles, and a ball. No pickles required. 

    You play pickleball on a court the same size as a badminton court. There’s a net in the middle that players strike the ball across to score points. You can play pickleball can play as singles or as doubles. 

    A seven-foot zone on each side of the net is a no-volley zone. That’s to ensure players don’t try to spike the ball.

    The Basic Rules of Pickleball

    Like any game, the object of pickleball is to score more points than your opponent. To start a volley, the server must hit the ball over the net while standing behind the back line. The server must hit the ball underhand and in a diagonal direction across the court. 

    Once the ball is over the net, it has to bounce once before the other player hits it back. The players then hit the ball back and forth until the non-serving side fails to return the ball or the serving side makes a fault.     Only the side that served the ball can score points. If the serving player faults, the other side gets to serve. 

    Winning at Pickleball

    Most of the time, a match goes until someone reaches 11 points and wins by two. Often, the winner will be the player that wins two matches out of three.
