Skincare tips for men

Traditionally, men often have an easy skincare routine. However, more and more men are striving for healthier and younger-looking skin. Therefore, now is a good time for men to learn more about the largest organ in the body, namely the skin.

Below you can read tips about skincare for men that will help you take better care of your skin.

Check out the product labels and ingredients

Many men actually don’t care much about the ingredients in skincare products. Yet these are becoming increasingly important.

Do you have sensitive and dry skin? Then look for products without sulfate, alcohol and perfume.

Do not always believe the marketing statements on the packaging. Therefore, always check the ingredient lists. Here you can clearly see what is and what is not in it.

Wash your face daily and after exercise

Washing your face is very important. Facial skin is most exposed to UV radiation and the environment on a daily basis. That is why it is important to take good care of your face.

Don’t just wash your face with water, but use a face wash.

Dirt on the skin is hydrophobic. This means that it does not stick to water alone. Dirt will stick to the ingredients in a facial cleanser. This makes your skin clean faster and better.

    Check whether you shave properly

Do you often suffer from razor bumps, ingrown hairs, or sensitive and painful skin after shaving? Then check whether you shave properly. Wait to shave after showering and scrub/cleanse your face before shaving.

    Moisturize your face daily

Many people think they moisturize their skin by just putting water on it. Unfortunately, water cannot be absorbed by the skin, but it will rather dry out the skin as it evaporates. That is why it is important to moisturize the skin with a moisturizer or lotion.

Proper hydration of the skin ensures that fine lines are less visible and that the skin looks healthier and younger.

Don’t leave your home without sunscreen

Make sure you always have sunscreen with you. One with at least SPF (sun factor) of 15 or higher. Moisturizers and lotions that have sunscreens are also available. It is also possible to use a moisturizer or lotion first and then a sunscreen.

Do you actively go out into the sun for longer than 15 minutes? Always lubricate yourself. Damage from UV radiation is often not immediately visible, but this can seriously damage the skin over a long time. In the summer it is good to always apply, no matter how long you go in the sun.

     Check your skin

It is wise to check your skin once a month for changes. New spots on the skin or moles that itch, bleed, or change color can be early warning signs of skin cancer.

Don’t trust a spot on the skin? Then immediately contact your doctor or dermatologist.

    More water, less sugar

Using a moisturizer or lotion is a good start to moisturize your skin. Your skin can also be hydrated on the inside. Make sure you drink enough water. This is not only good for your skin, but also for all other parts of your body.

Eating a lot of sugar can cause inflammation in the skin and breakouts. Cookies, candy and soft drinks are the biggest culprits.
