Creating A Garden Meditation Space



    We all have that weird or sacred thing/habit that helps us recharge and take control of our inner self, particularly after a stressful day at work. Many people prefer to take their time in the bathtub, while others love to meditate in a small meditating space. Meditation not only makes it easy to connect with your inner self, but also helps rejuvenate your body, soul, and mind. For this reason, it’s advisable to help keep the meditating space clean, well-arranged, and sacred.

    Your meditation space doesn’t necessarily have to be in the bedroom, a closet, or in the attic. You can create it almost anywhere within your home, including the garden. A garden meditating space is the closest you will get to a sacred place. The garden produces the tranquility you need to connect with nature, and also provides an ample environment for inducing a relaxation mood. You too can create a garden like space for meditating. Outlined below are a few tips and ideas on how to create a beautiful ‘sacred’ space.

    1. Choose a space/room you are comfortable in

    Go for a space that makes you feel relaxed and at peace. If there isn’t a spare room to dedicate for this, a quiet corner will do. Several factors such as traffic, quietness, and lighting should be considered before settling for a space or room. As mentioned earlier, your garden can be turned into a sacred meditating area as well. Plants and everything in the garden can help create the tranquility needed while meditating.

    2. De-clutter the room/space

    You will need peace and serenity in here. Get rid of items you don’t need, or simply set them aside until done with the room or space. The only basics needed in the space are a small table, a mat, a meditation pillow, and a throw rug.

    3. Consider adding natural elements to the space

    The main idea behind meditation is to connect with nature and everything in it. Adding a few aspects of life, such as a vase of flowers, a plant, a custom wall fountain manufacture, fish in a jar, or a jar of shells is recommended. This helps add a touch of nature, which makes it easy to feel the energy surrounding you.

    4. Add some soothing music or tunes

    Although this may not be necessary, it should come in handy for those living in noisy neighborhoods and the city. The soothing sound of relaxing music should help drown the noise. If music isn’t your thing, you can then try adding a small fountain to the room or space. The sound of dripping water is in itself, soothing to the mind.

    5. Add sweet aroma or candles

    Most essential oils produce a fragrance that helps create calmness from within, as well as attract soothing energies. Scented candles can also be used in the meditation room as well. Just watching the flames flicker from a candle can send you into a trance.

    6. Personalize the space

    Personalizing the meditation space creates a self-connection with it, hence making it easier to harness the energies within. Some of the items you can add to the meditation space include artwork, beads, crystals, affirmation stones, chimes, and bells. You could also have the room painted to your favorite color or theme.
