What are Some of the Most Common Misconceptions About CBD?

For the past few years, there has been a lot of buzz about cannabidiol (CBD), all over the world. But the flood of information on this topic, like for anything else on the internet, has not been all accurate. There is a ton of information out there about CBD being illegal, being a drug or its consumption having a lot of side effects. Therefore, in order to help you, we’ll list some of the most common misconceptions about CBD, so you can decide for yourself if you can make use of this substance.

    CBD is marijuana

First and foremost, it should be clear that CBD is not marijuana. It is true that both CBD and marijuana are extracted from the cannabis plant, but it’s worth mentioning that CBD is more specifically extracted from the hemp; so they are different. Yes, THC is present in the CBD extract, but only in less than 0.3%, which is about 33% less concentrated than the weakest marijuana. That being said, no, you cannot get high from consuming just CBD.

    CBD is illegal

In most places of the world, the CBD extracted from hemp (as it should be), it’s not considered a narcotic and it’s free to purchase even online. You can buy CBD flower and smoke it without having concerns about doing something illegal or even about getting high. It’s power stands in the fact that it’s simply meant to relax you, without causing any harm.

    CBD is addictive

CBD is not addictive by any means. There have been a number of studies until now that show that CBD can actually have the opposite effect. That means that if you use other pain management medication that can cause some sort of addiction, CBD can actually help you minimize the side effects of those.

CBD can only be used by adults

This misconception comes from the fact that a lot of people think that CBD is the same with marijuana, so that’s why you can’t even begin to think that it can be used by children. But since we have already established that CBD is not a drug by any means, it’s safe to say that CBD can be used as medication for children as well. In fact, there have been medications containing CBD that were approved already for kids with a rare form of epilepsy.

    CBD can only be smoked

Since most people associate CBD with marijuana, they also think that CBD needs to be smoked. But actually, you can use CBD as oil and you can place a drop under your tongue, which means that you would be using it sublingually. Of course, nowadays, you can find it in numerous forms on the market, including edibles that can be mixed with your food and drinks. And also, believe it or not, you can also find it in all sorts of products like bath bombs, sparkling water, makeup etc.

    All CBD are the Same

The market for CBD is fairly new, which means that there have not been enough regulations implemented for its production. That being said, not all selling points can be trusted given that there are a lot of poor quality and unsafe CBD products out there. It’s best if you do a lot of research and look for the best options before you decide to go ahead and buy the substance.

Truth being said, given the other substances that you can associate CBD with, it’s only natural for people to have lots of misconceptions about it. Fortunately, the more research you do and the more you read about it, the more you’ll manage to debunk all the rumours and to be able to understand what are all the benefits of CBD.
